MIRI: Senator Datuk Dr Nuing Jeluing says the use of the Iban language should be applied and improved so that it is in line with the use of other main languages in the country.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report, he added that towards this, the Dayak Association Miri (DAM) organised a Iban public speaking competition recently.

The competition was open to all secondary school students in Miri Division and was held in conjunction with DAM’s 60th anniversary.

The champion’s title went to Dimas Imanuel Jimmy, who brought home RM700, while second place went to Tatia Lolea Ning Mamat, who pocketed RM500. Finishing in third was Mike Rawing Christopherson, who won RM300.

At the event, DAM also donated to 46 pupils from 12 primary schools.
