SARATOK: The Info On Wheels (IOW) Merdeka programme aims to lift the spirit of patriotism and love for the country among communities in Sarawak in conjunction with the National Month and Malaysia Day celebrations.
Deputy Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Ali Biju noted that IOW also aimed at helping to promote Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign.
“The IOW will go to locations such as longhouses, villages and housing estates to disseminate various information about the National Day and Malaysia Day,” he said when officiating at the programme held at Rumah Rosalind Lema, Sebubu Barit here recently.
The Saratok MP hoped that local communities expressed their spirit of love for the country by flying the Jalur Gemilang in conjunction with National Month and Malaysia Day as a sign of unity in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I also hope that the country will soon recover from the Covid-19 pandemic and people can return to normal life and enjoy common prosperity,” he said.
Meanwhile, Saratok District Information Officer Florence Sebastian Unting said the IOW programme was also to remind communities to comply with the Covid-19 safety guidelines as well as the standard operating procedures (SOP).
During the event, JaPen distributed pamphlets and posters regarding the Rukun Negara, National Day and Malaysia Day.
