Uprooted tree obstructs village road, no injuries reported

MIRI: A team of firefighters from the Batu Niah fire station was rushed to Kampung Tanjung Berlipat Ulu, early today (Jan 24) clear a fallen tree that was obstructing the access road to the village.

According to acting Miri Fire Department chief Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee, they were alerted to the incident at 8.44am.

The village is located about 4.3km from the fire station. Fortunately no one was injured.

It is believed that strong winds and heavy storms since early this morning had uprooted the tree.

“Work to clear the road started around 8.51am and ended two hours later,” Ahmad said.

Villagers from Kampung Tanjung Berlipat Ulu were also seen helping the firefighters to clear the area.
