KUCHING: The newly registered Sarawak Business Events Association (SBE) pledged to advance and elevate the standards of the industry. The association aims to fulfil its objective acting as a platform for its members in reciprocating knowledge and ideas related to business events.

Its president Frederick Ho said SBE, being the first state-level business events association in Malaysia, will prioritise assessing the condition, health, and wellbeing of its members who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We will identify and correlate all means to assist them.  Committees have been formed for the specific purpose of helping our members and industry during this difficult time,” he said.

SBE was established to promote the development of business events, facilitate opportunities for business events learning, research and development, and so on.

At the same time, Ho said SBE will be organising educational programmes for its members.

“Now is the best time for educational programmes given the current pandemic which has affected most of the businesses.

“We want to assist our members by providing them the opportunity to upskill themselves and become certified professionals,” he said.

The programmes will be conducted via webinars and the courses offered are;  Certified Exhibition Management (CEM), Certified Incentive Specialist (CIS), and Sustainable Event Professional Certificate (SEPC).

“Lectures on marketing communication, destination branding, and brand management as well as sustainable development goals in the event industry will also be accessible for our members,” said Ho.
