Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom

BINTULU: Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom has called on the rural folk to take advantage of the state government allocations to improve their economic status through agricultural activities.

The Minister of Utilities pointed this out at the Agriculture Community Outreach Programme (AgriCOP) at Rumah Sigan Inal in Ulu Niah today.

“As part of the efforts to further develop the agricultural sector in the state, the Sarawak government has provided a lot of funds to help the people, especially rural farmers, improve their living standards.

“Therefore, I call on all farmers to take advantage of this opportunity and use the knowledge gained from courses organised by relevant departments to develop themselves,” he said.

Organised by the Miri Agriculture Department, the two-day course aims to teach the participants how to manage their oil palm and Musang King estates and fish farms.

Meanwhile, Tuai Rumah Sigan Inal hoped such programmes would be held regularly for the benefit of smallholders, especially in Ulu Niah and Ulu Suai.
