SIBU: Traders and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) should use the financial aid provided by the government to further develop their businesses.

Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew said the federal government had provided various assistances under the Prihatin stimulus package while the state government had provided similar aid under the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) to people and businesses affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The people should use the assistance as best as possible for their capital or to purchase tools used to produce certain products.

“Do not abuse government assistance for any purpose other than expanding your business potential.

“The government is only helping while the rest is in your hands to take advantage of and improve your socio-economy,” he said at a dialogue session held at Rumah Veronica, Sungai Pasai near here, over the weekend.

At the event, Lau presented 300 bags of cement purchased with donations from Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch to Rumah Veronica to upgrade the longhouse.
