USM to help in ombudsman training

KUCHING: Universiti Sains Malaysia plans to conduct ombudsman training for Certified Integrity Officers (CeIO) in Sarawak.

Its legal adviser Dr. Khairul Anuar Che Azmi said USM will in this respect work with the Integrity and Ombudsman Unit of the Sarawak Premier’s Department (UNIONS).

“It will include investigation procedures and investigation techniques.,” he told reporters after a courtesy visit to USM by Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr. Juanda Jaya, recently.

“We at USM will also empower matters related to integrity for Sarawak students studying at USM.

“We hope that other collaborations in the future can continue to be implemented together,” said Dr. Khairul.

This courtesy visit included the UNIONS director, representatives of the Internal Audit Unit of the Sarawak Premier’s Department and the Director of the National Audit Department, Sarawak.

It was the third visit of UNIONS to USM with the aim of further strengthening ties after the first visit in 2018 and the second in 2019.

Also present were Universiti Sains Malaysia Vice-Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr. Faisal Rafiq Mahamadikan and USM’s top management.
