MIRI: Columbia Asia Hospital Miri today (May 25) begin its inoculation drive under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is also minister-in-charge of the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), today (May 25) morning paid a visit to the hospital to monitor the progress of the vaccination programme.

The hospital is among five private medical institutions in this division to be appointed by Miri DDMC as vaccination centres to expedite Sarawak’s immunisation programme.

Lee was accompanied by Miri Divisional Health Officer Dr P Raviwharmman, Miri Division Resident Office representative Rose Edward Tarang, Columbia Asia Hospital representative Dr Yeoh Kim Looi and chief of medical services, consultant obstetrician and gynecologist Dr Roland Dom Mattu.

“I hope that more private hospitals and clinics will join in the Covid-19 vaccination programme to help expedite the vaccine rollout in Miri in order to achieve herd immunity of at least 80 percent.

“During the third phase of the programme, more vaccines will arrive in Sarawak, and we require more manpower for the vaccination process,” Lee said.
