KUCHING: Vaccination certificates will be distributed to business operators in the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) areas in the first week of September.

MBKS mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng said businesses such as shopping malls, private businesses, supermarkets and eateries would receive the certificates from the council.

“The certificates will be handed out to businesses in our administration areas. Those who want to participate in this, please submit all proofs of vaccination.

“After we check that the business owners and employees have been fully vaccinated, then we will issue them the certificates,” Wee said when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune recently.

“We make it very clear that we need to create a safe and healthy environment for the patrons to feel safe and we hope the customers will also reciprocate.

“The safety of the public is our top priority. We try our best to do whatever we can to make sure every business premises is safe to go,” he added.

However, the mayor believed that most of the business operators and hawkers had been fully vaccinated.

He also believed that issuance of the vaccinations certificates to businesses would be supported by the public.

“With the increasing number of Covid-19 cases, I strongly believe the public will support this good intention. Of course, there might be a small group who will go against this implementation.

“To be fair, business operators also hope those coming to the markets or their stores are safe too.”

However, Wee also said that there might some exception for some cases like pregnant women or those who had not yet been vaccinated due to medical problems and such.
