SRI AMAN: The people have been assured that the government is working on speeding up the Covid-19 vaccination programme.

Assistant Minister of Welfare and Community Wellbeing Datuk Francis Harden Hollis who is also Sri Aman Division Disaster Management Committee advisor said they will recommend the number of people receiving daily vaccination in the area to 500 people at a time.

“In line with this, we will also propose to use flying doctor services for the vaccination programme for the rural population.

“However, this depends on the suitability of vaccine handling after obtaining advice from the Ministry of Health (MOH),” he said during his visit to the Vaccination Centre (PPV) at Dewan Suarah Sri Aman.

The vaccination programme here will resume on June 3 to June 7after the Gawai Dayak celebration to vaccinate 1,602 individuals.

Harden said those who are to be vaccinated will be informed not only via phone calls but also via RTM, Social Media, District Office, and local community leaders by the health officials.

“I advise the people in the rural areas to be aware of the announcements from any channel, especially local radio broadcasts, so that they can come for the vaccination.

“The trend of positive Covid-19 cases is increasing as carriers among the people have entered the community. The government’s move to enforce the movement control order (MCO) should be adhered to and all parties abide by the advice of the authorities. During the Gawai festive season, people in the city are barred from returning to longhouses.

“This ban is not to inconvenience the people but for the good of the longhouse residents, hence the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) must ensure that residents living in the city are prohibited from returning to the village,” he stressed.
