KUCHING: The Covid-19 vaccine critics and cynics are no longer listened to as more people are aware of the benefits of vaccination.

Bung Bratak Heritage Association president, Datuk Peter Minos noted that the public is becoming more knowledgeable of what is best for them, and that even those who are less articulate in rural areas commented, “Hanya vaksin yang ngasi lawan Covid,” which translates to mean only the vaccine was effective in our fight against Covid.

“This is a very positive remark from them as it shows that people are looking forward to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

“People have high confidence in the efficiency of the vaccines to protect them as their lives pretty much depended on it,” he said.

He also stated that the Covid-19 immunisation symbolises a badge of personal safety, adding that it has been long anticipated and wanted by all.

Minos, who is also Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman revealed that many residents of Kota Samarahan continuously ask him regarding their turn to get vaccinated.

He advised people to constantly keep an eye on their MySejahtera app to avoid missing their vaccination appointments and to remain patient while the government works to speed up the vaccination procedure.

In addition, Minos praised the efforts of volunteers and government institutions in assisting the vaccination procedure.

“I am grateful for the noble gesture demonstrated by the volunteers and all agencies who have offered to assist us in this time of need. Hopefully, by the end of August, we will have vaccinated at least 80% of Sarawak’s population,” he said.

Minos urged the public to give full cooperation to the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NCIP) at their respective areas and to only follow instructions from competent institutions such as the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) and the Ministry of Health (MOH).
