SIBU: A van driver sustained a torn right face and broken legs following a three-vehicle accident at Mile 8, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu this morning (Feb 7).

The accident involving a van, a lorry and a pick-up truck happened in front of a driving institute around 8.55am.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from the Sibu station were deployed to the scene, about 14km from the station.

On arrival, they found a 28-year-old man pinned to his seat in a van. He had to extricated with rescue cutter tools.

The victim, who sustained facial injuries and two broken legs, was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The team also helped to clear the road from the accident debris before wrapping up the operation around 9.40am.

It is believed that the victim was on his way from Sibu to deliver goods to Kapit when the incident happened.
