KUCHING: Open University Malaysia (OUM), a leading digital university for working adults in Malaysia, has awarded a scholarship to national badminton player Thinaah Muralitharan.

In a recent press statement by OUM, Thinaah commenced her academic journey in OUM since May 2020, enrolling in the Bachelor of Education (TESL) with Honours programme.

The university is providing full financial support to her, beginning January 2023 semester until May 2024.

In his welcoming remarks, Prof Izanne noted that athletes like Thinaah lead an incredibly demanding lifestyle.

“Their days are consumed by rigorous training and competitions, both locally and abroad. Their schedules are often unpredictable and subject to the demands of their sport.

“We understand these challenges, so we offer a flexible approach to education. All our programmes are online, allowing them to fit their studies around their lives while continuing to bring pride to the nation,” he said.
