Varsity run draws 560 participants

SIBU: UCTS Run 2018, organised by University of College Technology Sarawak (UCTS), attracted 560 participants yesterday.

Youths, schoolchildren, UCTS staff, lecturers, students and members of the public were among those taking part in the event which was held for the fifth time.

The event was divided into three categories   namely, men’s open category (10km), women’s open (10 km), men’s fun run and women’s fun run (5km).

The flagging off ceremony at 6.15am for each category was jointly officiated by UCTS senior manager (corporate and marketing) Lu Yew King and UCTS Run adviser Saiful Norahim.

UCTS Run aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle among the people of Sibu and collect donations and funds for needy UCTS students and the Agape Centre.

Meanwhile, Husnan Hasing emerged champion in  the men’s open category while Raymond Tiong and Vincent Hong came second and third respectively.

For the women open category, Su Lian Tiing dominated the first place while Lee Leh Ha finished second  and Wong Mee King was third.

Franklin Wee came first in the men’s fun run category while Mohd Azhar and Azwandi Jamali were second and third respectively.

The women’s fun run was won by Lau Kek Ying while Ting Lin Lin came second and Yeo Leh Peng was third. The top three winners in the men’s and women’s open categories took home RM500, RM300 and RM200 and medals respectively.
