BETONG: The Sarawak government approved 127 acres of land for the implementation of the Village Expansion Scheme or Skim Pembesaran Kampung (SPK) which will be implemented in the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

Kalaka Assemblyman Mohamad Duri said that it was approved as a people’s project and it will cost RM27 million.

Alhamdulillah the request and the voice of the people received a positive response from the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.

“Indeed, this is our plan to create an organised settlement for the people, in addition to being complete with basic needs and facilities,” he said.

The Parti Persaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council member said this after a briefing session with the Betong Division Land and Survey Department (JTS) regarding the implementation of the Kupang SPK here yesterday.

He described the two phases of SPK Kupang’s implementation.

“This project has serious implications; I hope the JTS team, under the Land and Survey Superintendent of Betong Moris Nayup, can make sure that it continues to be successful.

“Additionally, it is hoped that it can be accelerated because the people are eagerly anticipating a project like this.

“Thank you to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and the GPS government as a whole,” he said.

Mohamad added that after receiving a mandate from the people in the last 12th state election, now is the time to serve with full earnestness in the Kalaka constituency area.
