BATU NIAH: Two vehicles that collided into each other along Jalan Bekelit Ulu, Ladang 3, in Batu Niah, suddenly caught fire at 11.21am today (July 8).

A spokesman for the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said in a statement that eight firemen from Batu Niah station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call pertaining to the incident.

“Upon arrival, they found that the fire had already engulfed a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) and a four-wheel-drive (4WD) after they collided into each other. Both vehicles were 100 per cent destroyed by the fire.

“The driver of the MPV and a passenger in the 4WD, who sustained minor injuries, were brought to a nearby clinic by members of the public,” the spokesman said.

After ensuring the fire was fully extinguished and the roads were safe for other road users, they wrapped up their operations at 12.33pm.
