KABONG: The implementation of the first phase of the Kampung Hulu Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) worth RM22 million will provide opportunities for landless residents to build their own homes.

Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir said that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s visit to the project signified the government’s seriousness in developing new settlements.

“I believe this is a project that the people have been waiting for. The first phase of Kampung Hulu SPK which costs RM22,226,330 will provide 200 residential lots,” he said on Saturday (Sept 18).

The project, which is located on a 61-acre piece of land, also houses a commercial lot to accommodate cottage industries, open space, kindergarten, surau, and Sesco substation.

It is expected to be fully completed by October next year.

Commenting on the new projects approved by the chief minister during his working visit to Kabong, Mohd Chee described those projects as high impact.

“For instance, the construction of the new Kabong District Office is much needed and it will drive development here.

“A larger building will also allow civil servants to work comfortably, thus increasing productivity,” he said.

He said that the other projects would similarly make the people happy as well as change the landscape of Kabong District by fully equipping it with much-needed facilities.
