SADONG JAYA: A Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) project here worth over RM34 million is nearing completion with 91.17 percent of the works done.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said upon completion, the scheme will be able to provide a total of 290 residential lots including public facilities such as surau and mosque.

The SPK Sadong Jaya is scheduled to complete on April 5.

“At the moment, there is a slight delay in its implementation but nevertheless, we have informed the contractor to catch up and complete the project according to schedule,” he said when visiting the project site today.

Awang Tengah said the project is being implemented based on new infrastructure components and specifications set by the state government.

These include upgrading the gravel road to a tar-sealed road, filled residential lots and improving the drainage system from earth drain to concrete drain.

“The state government has also reduced the land premium per lot to not more than RM2,500 each, which can also be made through installments.

“This initiative is implemented to alleviate the burden of low-income villagers involved in the scheme to enable them to settle the land premium,” he said.

Awang Tengah advised the villagers not to sell the residential lots given under temporary occupation licence (TOL) for them to construct their homes.

“We do not allow the sale of land with TOL except with the approval of the Land and Survey Department. Errant permit holders will be blacklisted,” he warned.

The SPK lot application can be made online at the Sarawak Land and Survey Department’s website at https://landsurvey.sarawak.gov.my or the ARES systemat https://jts.sarawak.gov.my/ares/.
