PUSA: The 5th general election (GE15) was welcomed by voters in Kampung Spinang here as if it was the Hari Raya celebration.

As early as 7am, about 300 voters were already ready to cast their votes while adorned in their Hari Raya best traditional attire.

According to the Beting Maro PBB branch exco member Maro Sadiman Aron, the idea to cast their votes in the traditional outfit was a surprise and it was planned only 48 hours prior to the polling date.

“When every one of us agree with the idea and give our cooperation, then we proceed with it. This is akin to the spirit of welcoming our new leader in our warrior way,” he told Suara Sarawak here today.

He added that the atmosphere for the GE15 was different as the voters are all rallying behind the GPS and its local candidate, Mohamad Shahfizan Kepli.

Kampung Spinang is one of the villages under the Batang Lupar parliamentary constituency.
