Villagers to have easier access to their farms

PADAWAN: A total of RM1 million will be spent to upgrade a 2.5km long farm road at the Bengoh Resettlement Scheme (BRS) here.

The first phase of the project costing RM500,000, was completed in November last year, and on Sunday (Mar 28) at the BRS Hall, Plantation and Commodities Deputy Minister Datuk Willie Mongin handed over the contract for the second phase of the project also costing RM500,000 to the contractor.

He said the project under the Ministry of Rural Development was scheduled to be completed within three months to benefit residents in four villages in BRS, namely Kampung Taba Sait, Semban, Pain-Bojong and Rejoi to go to their respective orchards (kebun).

Also present at the ceremony were the village head of the respective villages.

Later, declaring open a bridge and Jalan Majerin in Kampung Patung here, Willie hoped that the facilities developed under the Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR) would benefit the rural community through better accessibility.

At the function, Willie announced an allocation of RM20,000 for the Kampung Patung Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), RM30,000 to the village Women’s Burea. He also presented donations to 13 chronic patients and the disabled (OKU) in the village.
