KUCHING: Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang has urged the residents of Kampung Haji Baki here, where the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) is being enforced, to be disciplined and comply with the law.

In response to a teenager who was issued a RM1,000 compound in an attempt to sneak out of the village last Friday night, Lo said that it is unfortunate to see the boy fined.

“We must all be patient and stay home. We must discipline ourselves to stay indoors and not leave our homes for the time being. The earlier we get through this, the better. No one wants to be locked down,” he told New Sarawak Tribune on Sunday (Nov 1).

He added that the EMCO was the only way to overcome and break the chain of Covid-19 infection within the area.

“For the sake of everyone else in Kampung Haji Baki and Kuching, I urged all to be vigilant.

“Let’s remind ourselves to wear face masks at all times, sanitise our hands consistently and practise social distancing,” said Lo.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has enforced the EMCO at Kampung Haji Baki Block A, B and C from Oct 28 until Nov 11 as a measure to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission from the Baki Cluster.
