SERIAN: The poor road conditions and network coverage in Kampung Merakai need to be upgraded in order to fast-track the state’s transition into a high-income society by 2030.

This was said Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom after launching utility projects in Merakai at the Kampung Merakai multi-purpose hall on Thursday (Dec 10).

“I will discuss the matter with the Cabinet on how we can upgrade the village’s road facility and network coverage,” he told reporters after the event.

He also urged villagers to fully utilise the infrastructure provided to improve their standard and quality of life.

“We are working hard to supply amenities to the village. To sustain livelihood, villagers must better themselves because we are targeting to achieve a minimum of RM4,000 income per household in Sarawak by 2030,” he added.
