Villages urged to set up women bureau

Date:

KUCHING: Krian assemblyman Friday Belik has called for the setting up of more women bureau at the village level to facilitate efforts to uplift the socio economy of the womenfolk.

He pointed out that the number of such bureau was still low, thus there was a need for more to be established.

“The Women Bureau is important in helping the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), particularly to strengthen the economy and family institutions,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the launch of Rumah Andrew Nyanggau’s Women Bureau at Sungai Belong, Melupa Saratok.

Friday also added that several programmes to train women in various fields would be implemented in his constituency.

At the event, he approved a RM150,000 grant under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) for the longhouse.
