KUCHING: A picture of a road signboard displaying a ‘Kuala Lumpur’ and ‘Sibu/Sarikei’ direction at a T-junction which has gone viral in social media recently is fake.
This was issued by state’s Public Works Department in a statement yesterday to clarify the confusion among netizens in social media that there is no road access from Kuala Lumpur to Sibu and Sarikei.
“Reference is made to the recently viral directional signboard ‘Kuala Lumpur – Sibu/Sarikei’ which has caused confusion, please be informed that the photo/image is fake and superimposed”.
The picture has misled and caused confusion among netizens and the department said that it cannot condone such irresponsible behaviour.
“It is hoped that such irresponsible acts will not be repeated in the future,” the statement read.
