KOTA SAMARAHAN: D-Virtual Park, the first virtual reality theme park in Borneo, was officially launched by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on Monday (October 12).
The RM13 million virtual park is the brainchild of Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad and it is part of a breakthrough from the digital strategy for Sarawak.
The virtual theme park is equipped with facilities and services that can cater to entertainment, education and innovation.
New Sarawak Tribune managed to get some comments on the expectations for the virtual theme park in helping to develop local talents to become more tech-savvy.

“This virtual park will be a one-stop centre for entertainment, innovation and education for the local community. We hope that the facilities and services available here can help to encourage the local talents and community to develop their skills in information communication technology (ICT) which can be used to kick start small businesses by engaging digital technology. For example, young people come here to utilise the facilities available can learn how to develop content for game applications, tourism products, local food and delicacies as well as application development, digital product and technology without having to go to the private studio.”

“This virtual park is definitely a good initiative to accommodate and develop digital enthusiasts in Sarawak especially for e-Sports. We are looking forward to organise programmes and have sixteen of our athletes for Malaysian Games (Sukma) train here with the five-star facilities available.”

“This virtual park is a good addition to the ecosystem for the community here and also throughout Sarawak. This will indeed be the place for university and other higher learning institute students to apply what they have learned. Through our collaboration with Serba Dinamik, we hope that we can support and work together to cultivate more local talents so that new creative contents can be made and showcased.
