KUCHING: The Sarawak Research and Development Council (SRDC) received a visit from the United States National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and officials from the US Embassy Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
According to a statement, following the visit was the discussion centred on matters related to the potential collaboration between SRDC with NIAID to further develop its programme.
They also discussed funding opportunities from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under the United States Department of Health and Human Services as well as training and collaborative research opportunities between SRDC and NIAID.
The delegates were led by Dr Aaron Neal, the Clinical Research Specialist and Country Lead for Indonesia (NIAID NIH), including US Embassy economic officer Katherine Jernigan and Wesha Ooi, US Embassy Economic Assistant.
Also in attendance were general manager of SRDC Ts Dr Peter Morin Nissom, deputy general manager of SRDC Dr Ivan Yap Kok Seng, Head of Clinical Research Centre Sarawak General Hospital Dr Alang Fong and council members of SRDC to receive the visitors.
The delegates were then briefed on the roles and functions of SRDC by Dr Peter and the setting up of the Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre (SIDC) by Dr Yap.
