BINTULU: Bintulu Hospital is taking several control measures to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection to patients, visitors and its staff following the increase of Covid-19 cases here.

A notice shared by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit stated that visiting patients at all hospital wards is not permitted except for unavoidable emergencies.

“Visitors are only allowed to drop the food and essential items needed by the patients at the main entrance of the ward.

“Moreover, the hospital is only allowing one accompanying person for a patient and exchange is not permitted. This is because the accompanying person is not allowed to leave the ward until the patient is given permission for discharge,” it said yesterday (Sept 13).

It added that the accompanying person is required to undergo a prior polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test which will be provided by the hospital and permission will be granted once the PCR test result is negative.
