KUCHING: Immediate actions will be implemented by the Kuching City South Council (MBKS) to reduce the traffic accidents along the stretch of road at Jalan Stutong, which is near to the new KPJ Kuching Specialist Hospital.

A trip was made early Friday (Jan 15) to the site with the aim to scrutinise properly the road section where car accidents frequently occur. The entourage was led by MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng who was joined by officials from Traffic Division of Public Works Department (PWD) and police personnel.

At the site, PWD asset management sector director Ir. Awang Mohd Fadillah Awang Redzuan presented their findings to Wee and other councillors.

Wee said while the council was studying the recommendations proposed by PWD Sarawak, in the meantime the council would put out the necessary measures on the accident prone area.

“Among the measures that will be carried out is by installing chevron signs along the road to direct drivers along the curves of the road,” he said after visiting the road site.
