KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur and Selangor residents who want to take the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine will be able to book their slots from noon tomorrow, on a ‘first click, first-served’ basis.

National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said those interested would only need to register at http://vaksincovid.gov.my and select their preferred date and designated Vaccine Dispensing Centre (PPV).

He said the first appointment for the vaccination slots would be available on May 5 at PPV Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, and IDCC Shah Alam.

“Once you have picked a PPV and date, you will be notified of your vaccination time on MySejahtera or via SMS. This is the only way to opt-in for AstraZeneca. News about certain hospitals taking bookings for the AZ vaccine is untrue.

“This AstraZeneca opt-in is open to 268,000 people initially on a first click, first-served basis in the website for KL and Selangor residents.

“If successful, JKJAV (Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee) will roll out to other states pending further deliveries of AstraZeneca,” he said in his Twitter post today.

On April 28, the government announced that AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine would be offered on a “first come, first served” basis to Kuala Lumpur and Selangor residents.

The move was made to address the people’s fears and concerns about the vaccine, apart from not wanting to disrupt the ongoing immunisation programme. – Bernama
