KUCHING: Sarawakians must vote to retain the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government in the 12th state election slated in 2021.

Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan said Sarawakians shouldn’t believe in what was being said by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders as they have made a lot of U-turns in their decisions and promises.

“Like what the late Tok Nan (former Sarawak Chief Minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem) said only Sarawakians can take care of Sarawak and we do not need those from West Malaysia to govern our state,” said Snowdan, who is also Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) youth chief.

Snowdan was officiating at the closing of the 6th Tematu Gawai carnival cum Dayung Gawea Tematu beauty contest 2019 at Kampung Tematu near here on Saturday night.

He reminded the people of Sarawak especially voters to give their undivided support to GPS to make sure that Sarawak does not fall into the hands of Pakatan Harapan.

Meanwhile Snowdan called on Sarawakians to enhance unity and harmony among the various races in the state.

“We in Sarawak are very lucky because although we have some 30 ethnic groups and of different religions but we are able to live peacefully and harmoniously together unlike those in Peninsular Malaysia,” he said.

He urged the younger generation of Sarawakians to also learn more about the state’s history, from its colonial time to its independence and the formation of Malaysia.

To the Dayak community (Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu), Snowdan urged the young generation to learn more about their culture and tradition and always feel proud to be a Dayak.

He added that the achievements by the Dayak community in various fields were something that they ought to appreciate and be proud of.
