OYA: The Sarawak Foundation School Uniform Assistance Voucher programme has benefitted 484 needy students from 21 schools in Dalat District this year.

Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the vouchers could be used for the purchase of shoes, bags and stationery besides school uniforms.

The Sarawak Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister added that from the total schools, 19 were primary and two were secondary while the recipients comprised Year 1, Form 1 and special needs students.

“The recipients are from families whose heads of household have been registered with e-Kasih as their incomes are at poverty level,” she said when officiating at the handover of vouchers here recently.

The Dalat assemblywoman said for this programme alone, the Sarawak government contributed RM4mil annually, with eligible students statewide getting RM200 each.

The vouchers can be used at Sin Huat Hing, Dalat or Everwin (Sungai Merah) Trading Sdn Bhd, Mukah before Dec 31.
