KUCHING: Datuk Haji Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai has not received any confirmation on the extension of his service as the Mayor of the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU).

He said he was shocked to hear about the confirmation because earlier yesterday, somebody called and congratulated him.

“From what I heard from the person who spoke to me this morning, the news was published by a Chinese daily,” said Wahap when interviewed during the Milo Breakfast Day 2017 (MBD2017) held at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak here yesterday.

Wahap, who heads DBKU for three terms (six years), said his term would end in July this year.

“If there is a candidate to take over my post, I am okay. Whether he or she would continue the policy I have implemented, it is by his or her own means.
“But if my service is still needed, I am ready to serve,” said Wahap.
