5 PER CENT SALES TAX ON PETROLEUM PRODUCTS
KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will reveal the state’s move with regard to the collection of the 5 per cent sales tax on petroleum products from Petronas tomorrow.
Abang Johari will table the State Budget 2020 during the opening of the second session of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting tomorrow during which he will also reveal what he is going to do about the 5 per cent sales tax on petroleum products which Petronas has refused to pay the state.
“You (reporters) just wait on Monday on what I am going to do,” he told reporters when asked whether the Sarawak government would demand the national oil corporation to pay up the 5 per cent sales tax.
He was approached by reporters after attending an agreement signing ceremony between Saradise Sdn Bhd and Borneo International School (BIS) at Saradise Gallery, Jalan Song yesterday.
Abang Johari refused to elaborate on the state Budget 2020, saying, “You just wait lah, it’s almost Monday already.”
To another question, Abang Johari said Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has yet to talk about its preparation for the 12th state election which is due in 2021.
“I also don’t know when the state election is. We will deal with it when it comes. Why worry?” he said.
