MIRI: Starting from Wednesday (Aug 11), Pos Malaysia Miri branch is welcoming walk-in customers for Road Transport Department (JPJ) licence and road tax renewal transactions apart from attending to customers who made online appointments.

This was disclosed by Transport Minister, Datuk Lee Kim Shin after a brief visit to Miri Pos Office at Jalan Post here on Wednesday.

“Yesterday (Aug 10), I  called up the general manager of Pos Malaysia Sarawak to resolve complaints from the people who did not know how to use the online appointment system for driving licence and road tax renewals,” Lee said.

As a result of their discussion, walk-in transactions are now allowed besides online appointments for licence and road tax renewals.

Meanwhile, according to Pos Malaysia Miri branch manager, Syukari Mohamad there are seven counters at the Miri Post Office including two counters for customers to renew their driving licences and road tax.

These counters operate from Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm and on Saturday from 8am to 12.30pm. The counters are closed on the third Saturday of each month.

Meanwhile, at the Boulevard Post Office, three counters will be operating daily from 9am to pm for RTD’s licence and road tax renewals.

For the record, all post offices in Sarawak accept online booking but walk-ins are allowed if the counters are free and available.

Priority is given to online booking customers, so walk-in customers must wait until the online customers finish their transactions.
