LABUAN: The newly-formed Labuan divisional committee of Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) today announced appointments to three key posts, namely the secretary, treasurer and information chief.

Local entrepreneur Rosli Awang Damit is secretary, Harold Lim is treasurer and Salim Abdul Rahman is information chief, said committee chief Datuk Rozman Isli, who is the MP for Labuan.

Rosli thanked the party leadership for the trust placed in him and for appointing him to an important post.

“Besides making sure that the party’s struggle is in line with the party’s policies and not in contrary to the Registrar of Societies’ rules and regulations, I will contribute to the enhancement of project planning on the island,” he said.

Lim said he has a significant responsibility as the treasurer and will make sure that the divisional finances are in compliance with the party rules.

Salim said he will do his best as the information chief in keeping with the party’s expectations.

Rozman said the committee is determined to help steer Labuan to greater economic development in line with the party’s struggle.

He said the party’s trust and people’s expectations “are a source of tremendous encouragement for us, and put an enormous responsibility on our shoulders”.

“Warisan, being a Sabah-based political party, is moving towards gaining the people’s confidence on the island.  The Labuan Warisan new line-up with differing economic backgrounds will work together to keep the people united and do our level best to regain the island’s economic glory with the support from both the Sabah and federal governments,” he said.

Rozman said Labuan, being geographically close to Sabah, must continue to enhance its good rapport with Sabah despite being a federal territory.

He said it is necessary for the Labuan economy to be integrated and coordinated with Sabah’s so that the island will benefit from the state’s economic spinoff.

“With Warisan established on the island, Labuan will have direct access to the Sabah government and the federal government, through the Federal Territories Ministry,” he said.

Rozman also said that he will contest a post in the Warisan Supreme Council in the party elections early next month as he feels this is important for Labuan in the long term. – Bernama
