KUCHING: The Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) will be back from June 18 until 20 but virtually.
The shows will be streamed via Shopee Live from 6 pm onwards, giving access to millions of households across the country to enjoy the festival from the comfort of their own homes.
Shopee is the Official E-commerce Partner this time.
The Rainforest World Music Festival 2021 Virtual Experience will see an exciting line-up of artistes, namely Borneo-born Dayak-European Alena Murang who recently released her new album entitled “Sky Songs”; Kemada, Sang Rawi, Mathew Ngau, At Adau, Suk Binie’, Nading Rhapsody, and World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) champion Tuku’ Kame’.
Chief executive officer of Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) Sharzede Datuk Salleh Askor described the RWMF as a prestigious event that brought people together through music and culture while showing them the beauty and hidden gems in Sarawak.
“In addition to RWMF, this year’s Borneo Jazz Festival (BJF) which takes place the following weekend will also be streamed on Shopee Live platform,” she said.
“Viewers will be serenaded by a string of jazz musicians including Clinton Jerome Chua, O-Ha Soul Band, NisaAddina, Ta’Dan and the “Prince of Borneo” himself, Pete Kallang, from June 25 until 27 at 6 pm,”
“STB partnership with Shopee allows them to highlight the event in new ways, including interview sessions with the performers, prize giveaways, a prior performance showcase and many more,” said Sharzede.
Regional managing director of Shopee, Ian Ho said that he was very excited to be streaming the musical events on the Shopee Live platform.
He pointed out that these events were very much anticipated by people across the country since this was the first time that the music festival would be held virtually.
“Not only do we get to use our technology to support the local talents, but we will also put the spotlight on the state’s amazing offerings, combining both musical events with our 7.7 Mid-Year Sale to boost sales for Sarawakian sellers,” he added.

The STB has also launched an official store on Shopee to include products from both RWMF and BJF for an immersive virtual experience.
