KUCHING: At least 4,000 households in Sarikei Division were affected due to the delay by the Pan Borneo contractor in completing the new water pipeline connection work.

The Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) in a statement on Friday (Jan 14) said it had issued a notice for the work to be completed by Jan 13.

“However, the work could not be completed according to schedule. The department has urged the contractor to complete the work immediately today.

“This is to lessen the impact of water disruption to the affected areas. Water supply delivery is also done by Sarikei JBALB and the contractor until the situation returns to normal.”

The affected areas are Jalan KJD Meradong, Skim B, the whole of Pakan area, along Jalan Bulat from Sungai Rusa to Sungai Joh, Kesa Baron, Kesa, Jalan Onn Dian, Sungai Garan, Jalan Friendship, Jalan Cola and Pakan junction.

The areas of Pekan Bintangor, Sungai Sian, Selidap, Bukit Papit and Lebaan are expected to experience low water pressure.
