SIBU: The cleaning of sedimentation tank No. 1 at the Salim Water Treatment Plant is scheduled to take place from May 23 to 25.

Announcing this, the Sibu Water Board (SWB) expressed its appreciation for the understanding of the communities and sought their cooperation to conserve water through prudent usage during this period.

“SWB water tankers will be on standby and ready to send water to the affected areas. Any updates will be channelled through Sibu Water Board’s official social media (Facebook page, Twitter, and Telegram),” it said in a press statement today (May 22).

The board said the maintenance work is essential to ensure the continued efficiency and safety of its water treatment processes.

“During this period, there may be some necessary adjustments to the pumping of treated water.

“Specifically, if the demand for water is exceptionally high, we might need to regulate the pressure of the pumped water to ensure that the reservoir water level does not fall too low.

“This is a precautionary measure to maintain the overall stability of our water supply system,” it added.

SWB said they are committed to completing the cleaning of the sedimentation tank as swiftly as possible.

“We understand that such maintenance activities can cause inconvenience, and we will make every effort to minimise any disruptions to the public.

“However, if conditions are unfavourable and do not permit the cleaning to proceed as planned, we will postpone the work to a later date. This decision will be made to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the maintenance process,” the board added.

In the meantime, any issues pertaining to water supply can be reported through their hotline numbers (013-8106311).
