KUCHING: Speakers and participants from across the globe including The United Kingdom, France, Thailand and Singapore are taking part in the Borneo International Water and Wastewater Exhibition and Conference (BIWWEC) 2022.
Organising chairman Chang Kuet Sian stated that many of them are in water industries ranging from academia, regulators, practitioners and young water professionals.
“As the organising chairman, I am very pleased to be given the opportunity to organise such an extensive and stimulating three-day conference which started on Monday (Oct 17).
“BIWWEC is now the largest water & waste water event in Borneo. It is Sarawak’s international congregation of water and wastewater experts and is run biennially by the Malaysian Water Association Sarawak Branch,” he said.
He said this during his welcoming speech during the launch of BIWWEC 2022 at Imperial Hotel here on Tuesday.
Chang explained that the conference emphasised on addressing integral issues on both water and wastewater challenges faced by the world.
He said the conference offers opportunities for collaboration and innovation that will move towards advancing innovation and embracing transformation for promising sustainable water future.
“On the first day of the conference, we gained a lot of information and knowledge sharing from the speakers. We have learned from our professional water experts on how important water is at the global level.
“Hopefully, we would be able to gather many more new ideas and practical approaches in improving our water and wastewater industry for the remainder of the conference,” he said.
Chang also expressed his appreciation to the various sponsors for making the conference a reality.
Among the sponsors are Weida (M) Bhd, Empayar Setia Sdn Bhd, Group Engineers Malaysia Sdn Bhd, AFC Valves Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Exxor Technologies Sdn Bhd, Weidasar Sdn Bhd, CWM Group Sdn Bhd and Krah Grande Borneo Sdn Bhd.
“My special appreciation also goes to the ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak and other members of the organising committee for their advice, views, efforts, and hard works to ensure the success of the conference,” he added.
