During his site visit of the project yesterday (March 2), he said the project would not only improve the water supply but also the socio-economic status of the local community.

“The project is also expected to boost the socio-economic status of the local community and lead to sustainable economic growth as well as ensure a better quality of life to residents in Kanowit District, Nibong Tada, Machan and Sibu Jaya” he said.

The RM63.5 million project is implemented by the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB).

Said Narawi: “The scope of work involves the installation of water pipelines of various sizes from the Salim Water Treatment Plant to Kanowit area, including the connection of water pipelines to existing systems in Sibu Jaya area, the booster pump station in Durin, and the construction of a water tank in Bukong Jagoi.”

To ensure better  and continuous water supply quality in Sibu Division, JBALB will make sure that the projects, which are currently in the implementation stage, will be completed within the stipulated time.

These projects are part of the Sarawak Water Supply Grid System inspired by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to resolve water supply issues.
