
KUCHING: A project to upgrade Bau Water Treatment Plant at a cost of around RM16 million has been approved by the state government with the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) as the implementing agency.
This will address water supply disruption plaguing people in Bau town and surrounding areas.
The project, which is fully funded by the state government, will be completed by next Jan 15.
It involves upgrading and retrofitting, testing, and commissioning of the treatment plant in Kuching Division.
“The scope of work covers raw water intake facilities, flocculation and sedimentation system, filtration and backwash system, control and administration building, as well as buildings within the Bau Water Treatment Plant,” read a statement from JBALB today.
Once completed, the project will benefit over 50,000 residents in Bau Town and around Bau.
It will address the problem of water supply disruption while improving the water supply system in the area.
