Water upgrading projects to benefit 700 residents

KUCHING: Two water reticulation system upgrading projects implemented at Rumah Babai and Rumai Imau in Limbang are expected to be completed by the end of March.

Agriculture Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the projects were part of the Chief Minister’s Projek Rakyat programme.  The projects are to benefit more than 700 residents living in the two longhouses.

“The upgrading project at Rumah Babai is worth RM390,000 for about 60 doors (households). Meanwhile, the second project at Rumah Imau cost RM295,000 and will benefit 40 doors.

“Both of these projects are implemented by the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) and they are under the Chief Minister’s Projek Rakyat.

“Both projects are expected to be completed by March 31, 2021,” he said.

He said this when speaking to reporters after visiting the water reticulation system upgrading project at Rumah Babai, Kampung Bukit Brayung and Rumah Imau, Batu 9 Jalan Kubong, Limbang on Tuesday (Jan 5).

He also received a request from the longhouse dwellers for the wooden bridge leading to the longhouse be repaired or upgraded altogether.
