KUCHING: Sarawak will not go bankrupt with a corruption-free government and when good policies are put in place.
Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) deputy president Engga Unchat, in view of what Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng had pointed out that Sarawak will go bankrupt in three years’ time if it continues to be ruled by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition, said, “Let us wait and see, there is nothing to worry as there are a lot of other local-based parties, and when combined together they can be an alternative to run the country.”
He said SWP expects leaders from Malaya to be more generous even though it is of different political divide.
“We need total commitment and sincerity beyond politics.
“Federal and state governments must focus on developing the country, don’t play politics all the time,” he stressed.
He said Sarawakians are now waiting for the rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“The unimplemented Sarawak’s rights of MA63 for the past of more than 50 years have put Sarawak in bad shape which caused a lot of rural regions in the state to be without basic infrastructure because we are not given enough funds.”
