SIBU: The Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) members of Durin endorse its president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing to contest for the Dudong seat in the upcoming 12th state election (PRN12).

They unanimously suggested Tiong during Tiong’s ‘Malam Mesra’ event organised by PDP Dudong branch which took place at the Durin Indoor Basketball Court here, last Friday.

PDP vice president Teo Boon Siew said Tiong is a candidate who can secure victory and also  a leader of great calibre.

“As a representative of Durin residents, I would like to convey the wishes and demands of Durin residents who wanted Tiong to be nominated by GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) for the Dudong seat during the next election.

“We are confident that Tiong is the right candidate for Dudong,” he said, adding that PDP has already mobilised its machinery in preparing to contest for the Dudong constituency.

“Therefore, everyone’s support, especially the residents of Durin, is very much needed for the sake of GPS’s victory in the Dudong constituency,” he added.

Meanwhile, Tiong in his speech called on Durin residents to continue to provide strong support to GPS in the upcoming state polls.

Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP, was also touched by the support shown by the residents of Durin who expressed their wish for him to be their representative.

However, he declined to comment further on the matter as the decision can only be made by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who is also GPS president.

“I will continue to serve the people of Dudong constituency. We must all work together to solve any of the problems in the areas of Dudong,” he added.

On infrastructure problems in Dudong, he noted that developments are still needed in the area especially in Durin.

He explained that the issue of floods that often hits some areas in the Dudong constituency will also be taken into consideration where he will hold a meeting with the Public Works Department (JKR) in order to work out a solution.
