KOTA SAMARAHAN: A webinar entitled ‘Post Covid-19 Film Consumptions: Then, Now and The Future’ will be held on 29 April (Thursday), which will feature panel members with broad experience in the film and media industry.

The event is organised by the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) in collaboration with TVS and Student Association of Applied and Creative Arts (Perseni).

Unimas today said the organiser is encouraged by the success of an online film screening ‘Duduk & Tonton’ which attracted oversea viewers and filmmakers.

“The organiser is working to feature a timely subject on the impacts of the pandemic on media contents consumption among contemporary audiences.

“The webinar will discuss on how the Covid-19 outbreak has shaped the way society consume films and media contents as well as how the industry has responded through reshuffling strategies and adaptations to address those changes,” the university said.

Mini Film Festival (MFF) director Yow Chong Lee pointed out that the webinar is in line with media research which demonstrates the shift in media consumption taste.

He added that the webinar will provide insights to audience which will benefit filmmakers and content creators.

The four invited industry experts for the webinar are Ifa Isfansyah (festival director of Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival), Suhaimi Sulaiman (TVS chief executive officer), Juliana Low (head of Content and Programming, VIU) and Sharmine Ishak (Public Relations and Branding manager, GSC).

“The webinar will be broadcasted live on Apr 29 at 9pm via MFF’s Facebook,” Unimas added.

Members of the public who are interested to participate in the webinar and interact with the panelists are encouraged to register via http://bit.do/MFFWeb1 or visit MFF’s Facebook and Instagram page or call Cornelius at 013-2705149 for any inquiries.
