KUCHING: The TVET webinar programme ‘The Industrial Internet of Things (IoT)’ is important in producing Kuching Sarawak Polytechnic (PKS) graduates who are sensitive to technological developments in the industry and more competitive or competent in the field.
PKS director Jamaliah Ahmad said the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) involved automation technology and presented new challenges to all sectors and would definitely require changes in line with digital transformation to remain competitive.
She said the new challenges of IR 4.0 and IoT need to be given emphasis and exposure with regard to PKS students.
She hoped that the TVET webinar would help and expose PKS students towards the digital era of IR 4.0.
The TVET webinar programme was organised by PKS together with collaboration partner HERE Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which is an expert in the field of specialisation of mapping and navigation technology.
Jamaliah officiated at the opening of the webinar, which took place last Tuesday (April 6).
Two speakers, Ronny Allan Mile of HERE Malaysia and Braga Technologies chief technology officer Jatmiko Herjati, were invited for the programme.
Participating in the programme were lecturers and students of PKS’ Department of Information Technology and Communication (JTMK) and Department of Civil Engineering (JKA).
