Pasar Tamu Mingguan Sibu will be closed effective today (Jan 10)

SIBU: The Pasar Tamu Mingguan in Jalan Indah here has been ordered closed effective tomorrow (Sunday) due to Sibu being declared Covid-19 red zone.

This was announced by Sibu Municipal Council chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh today.

“Because of the still on-going Pasai Cluster which was announced by the chairman of the Disaster Management Committee Sibu Division Charles Siaw, we decided to close the market following the standard operating procedure (SOP) for red zone areas.

“MPS would like to inform the public about the closure until further notice. However, we are still waiting for updates on Sibu from Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas,” Ting said.

He reminded Sibu residents to stay safe and comply with the SOP.

“Stay home and refrain from going out if there is no important business to attend to.

“If you really have to go out, please use a face mask and always comply with the SOP,” he added.
