KUALA LUMPUR: Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said he is fully backing the move for weightlifting to included in the list of events in the Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Johor next year. He said the doping issue involving several weightlifters before this should not be made as reason to drop the sport from the biennial games.
“As OCM president, I am all for weightlifting to be included in Sukma Johor as what had happened in the past few years only involved a few athletes. It cannot be used as a reason to cast a negative impact on the sport’s development. “I believe there are many athletes out there, especially at the grassroots level, who are waiting for a decision,” he said when met by reporters at the Sportswriters Association Of Malaysia’s (SAM) 2019 Tenpin Bowling Tournament here Saturday. – Bernama
