KUCHING: Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni makes it a point to take care of the welfare of his constituents.
He said, besides assisting the needy and students who are furthering their studies to higher learning institutes (IPTs), assistance is also provided to families of chronic patients and next of kin of the recently deceased.
“The contribution is to alleviate the burden of the people especially when buying medicine or to pay for their treatment at hospitals and clinics.
“Every day, the Demak Laut service centre receives reports on deaths and those suffering from chronic patients such as kidney, stroke, cancer and those who just underwent surgery,” he said.
He was commenting on the recent donation by the service centre to representatives of chronic patients and next of kin of deceased in Demak Laut which was presented by the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kasih Sayang squad.
Dr Hazland said while the recipients have been receiving similar assistance from the government and non-government organisations (NGOs), the assistance doled out by the service centre will ease the burden of the constituents further.
“All of them have received official assistance from the government and NGOs such as the Social Welfare Department (JKM), Baitulmal Sarawak, Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati) and so on.
“However, the added contribution is to help ease the burden shouldered by them so far,” he said.
