KANOWIT: The Utilities Ministry will strive to give the best services to the people of Sarawak.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom revealed that the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) had been instructed to monitor the issues faced by the people.

“With our efforts, we will try our best to lessen the burden faced by the people. They must also cooperate with us by channelling their problems to the right channel to enable the relevant agencies to address the problem.

“And we will try our best to serve the people. We will try our best and promise the chief minister (Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg) to monitor projects that are being implemented because we want all the projects to be done or completed on time,” he said at a utility project launch here yesterday.

The event was officiated at by the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Dr Rundi then thanked the chief minister for constantly showing his concern towards the needs of the people.

“We are very grateful to have a chief minister who is always concerned about the people’s needs, who had also given big allocations to implement the projects in Sarawak, especially for the Sarawak Alternative Water Supply (Sawas) and Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (Sares) projects.

“As we all know, to develop Sarawak is challenging for us in terms of its landscape and large areas.

“And it’s hard for us to implement the projects in Sarawak such as water and electricity supply projects due to its landscape and large areas … but all this can be achieved thanks to our chief minister’s effort and the state government for giving big allocation to implement the projects in Sarawak,” he said.
